This is the ultimate work smarter not harder quote (for me).
"Give me six hours to chop down a tree, and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe." ~ Abraham Lincoln
I have found that the list of things to do is always long and growing, but the tasks that are critical to business success are very few. It boils down to the 80/20 rule, 80% of the results will come from 20% of the work. The first task is then identifying the 20%.
But even after identifying the big results tasks, there's a temptation to just get working, after all "time is money". And that being busy adrenaline is real!
I love this Abraham Lincoln quote, because it's the PAUSE -- let's plan -- create an environment for success. What's the most important to get right for the goal to be accomplished?
If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail." ~ Benjamin Franklin
Without a well thought out plan; time, energy and money is often wasted. If we take a few hours to sharpen our axe, we can reduce our waste.
