"The graveyard is the richest place on the surface of the earth because there you will see the books that were not published, ideas that were not harnessed, songs that were not sung, and drama pieces that were never acted.” ~ Myles Munroe
There’s a calling, a gifting, a talent, an ability, a disposition - whatever word you would like to use - there’s something special that resides in you. Do you perceive it? It’s not just for you. It is for those to whom you have been sent.
Nothing is by coincidence. Where you live, work, and play. The people you cross paths with on a daily basis. We can admit that most of life feels quite mundane, but the truth is it’s all by design. Only God knows the plans He has for us.
“I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for.” ~ Jeremiah 29: 11
Humanity is a one big puzzle; we each represent a piece of that puzzle, but more importantly each piece has a purpose and without our unique contribution the puzzle is incomplete.
You and I are important. We may not be celebrities, and our lives may appear as less than ordinary to those who make up the rules of society, but each and everyone of us is significant. Our significance lies in that we are earthen vessels created for a specific work. A more accurate way to express this truth is that our significance is in-built. It’s not earned, the manufacturer made sure it was there.
It’s spelt out in Ephesians 2:10:
“ For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
We have work to do, and we have been endowed with the tools to get the job done.
Imagine that a physical bridge exists between two points. On the one side is knowing what we should do - most of us are at that point where God has revealed to us what we must do. Then we need to walk across, stepping over: fear of failure, fear of what others would think and say, fear that maybe we don’t know what we should do, fear that we will be exposed as a fraud, fear that maybe our gift is nothing special. It’s a bridge that is well cemented in beliefs about who we are, impressions formed through our interactions with others, and repeated on the autoplay of our minds for years. We reinforce our thoughts by spending endless hours online watching others carry out their work while we admire them, as if we have nothing to do. NOTE that this bridge is not held together by the truth therefore if tested it cannot stand. Take one step and watch it give way to the truth. It becomes clear that the bridge was just a mirage.
Who can know the truth except the one who created the creature? The Lord says;
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you;I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” ~Jeremiah 1 : 5
We need to focus on the truth or else we will lose our way and forgo our mission. We can’t afford to do that. God has entrusted us with a role to play that will improve our lives and the lives of those around us.
Determine in your heart to fulfill your calling. To take that step from just knowing our assignment to carrying it out, we have to transform our minds with the truth of God’s word. The busyness of this life leads us to think it’s all about us. It has never been about us.
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” ~ Romans 12:2
Begin today. Write that article, even if only one person reads it, maybe that was the one person God wanted to receive that word. Sing that song, even if just two people listen to it, maybe those are the two people God wanted to minister to. Teach that revelation, even if only three people understand it… The purpose is God’s not yours.
Everyone wants the big things but big things were once little things. Don’t despise what God has given you. It’s for you to grow. Just get started. The vision is for an appointed time.
Stand on this truth:
Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
~Mark 9: 23
