"You don't go as far as your dream. You go as far as your team." Dr. Dharius Daniels
These words ring true in every area of life not just business, marriage, and careers. Maybe, you don't have a business team but we all have a support (or unsupportive) team in life whether we chose them consciously or by default.
Take a long hard look at the people you spend most of your time with, the people you share your trials and triumphs with, the people you call when you don't have anyone else. That's your team!
"You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with." ~ Jim Rohn
Be careful who you allow to be a part of your team. Your squad determines where you're headed in life. This isn't just my opinion or observation. 1 Corinthians 15: 33 says, "Do not be misled: Bad company corrupts good character.” It's a warning! It's easy to think, I'll hang around people doing the wrong thing or people who just don't seem to be focused and be the one who is focused and doing the right thing. The bible says you are deceiving yourself if you believe this.
START with you! Create an internal environment for yourself that will allow you to thrive not just exist. Control the things that you can. For example:
What goes into your mind?
What do you meditate on?
What's your attitude towards life?
Where is your focus?
What kind of information are you allowing to take room in your mind? Are you scrolling through social media mindlessly for hours? Are you reading books that build you up?
This ability to control ourselves is what separates us from the rest of creation.
We are to take dominion, first of ourselves, and then of our territory.
Who is on your team of friends and advisors?
Look at where you are getting your advice, is it godly? Look at the things you talk about when hanging out, do they glorify God? Do they move you forward in your thinking and being? Are you making sure you get around the kind of people where you can be groomed into the person you desire to become?
Now, take territory for the Kingdom!
We are saints because of the grace of our Lord and Saviour. Let our light shine for Him where ever we go. As long as we are in the world we will encounter dark environments. Places that are suffocating if we don't grab a hold of the truth.
Maybe your job environment feels toxic, but because you need the income you must remain put until something else opens up for you elsewhere. As believer's we have an arsenal for overcoming this life. Let's use it!
Pray before you go to work and throughout the day. God hears our prayers; ask and it will be done according to the will of God. We don't have to fight every situation, we pray through every situation. There is greater power in prayer than in any action we could ever take.
James 5:16, "... The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective."
Meditate on the word of God to keep your mind in the right place. This is how we create the right headspace in our environment. It's too easy to walk around dreading life, but that's not our portion. Apply the word of God to every circumstance. Be found blameless in tough situations.
Romans 12:2, " Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."
Prayer, fasting, and meditation on the Word of God is the recipe for overcoming. Don't let any of these be found missing in your life. Change what you can, and let God do the rest.
Be encouraged.
Stay blessed.
You can't outgrow your team. Whose on your team?
