Feeling stuck? I've been there more times than I'd like to admit. There have been long periods of time where I just didn't know what to do. I was stuck!
Looking back though, I realise that my problem wasn't that I didn't know what to do as much as it was that I had not decided what it is that I wanted to do. I thought the answer was somewhere out there. A new job, a new course, a new city....can you tell it all had to do with something "new". The truth is the answer was always with me. I need to take a long hard look at myself and follow what was obvious.
Sometimes even that can be really hard to figure out when you've been "stuck" in a situation for a long time but the answer is almost always right in front of you. It's not shiny! It's not what you thought it would be! But it's right there looking you in the face! It's been talking to you all your life.
If I could go back in time, this is what I would say to my younger self: "Try not to over complicate this (I know if you're a type A, even this is hard) but do what's right in front of you. Don't judge it. Just begin with what you have. The rest will unfold only when you take consistent action."
Picture this:
Who in their right mind would try pick the apples on the top of the apple tree when there are plenty hanging low that you can reach?
Yes the one's at the top may look good, but if you don't have a ladder or don't know how to do it safely, just take the apples you can reach.
This is something you can do NOW, while you figure out how to get to the top of the tree (whatever that tree is in your life).
I truly believe that there's an opportunity waiting for each one of us if we just start moving.
I love this quote.
"There's an opportunity that you can't see right now because you're seated. Get up and take a few steps and you will see it clearly."
Whatever area of your life you feel stuck, figure out what the lowest hanging fruit is, craft a plan, and take action!
Get moving.
You're destined for greatness.
