IT'S TIME TO PRESS THE RESET BUTTON

Updated: Oct 7, 2021

Have you been trying to do everything all at once and are not gaining much headway? If this is you, STOP. Stay calm. Entrepreneurship is a journey, not a destination. You’re on the right track. You have started, and are on your way. Everything is going to be fine.

It’s time to REFOCUS.

I know (🤚🏾hand raised) how the long list of things to do can have entrepreneurs in a cycle of busyness that isn’t productive. We love to be DOERs. That’s our thing, but over working is killing us.

It’s time to be STRATEGIC DOERs. Bring back the sanity, reality, and the joy of being an entrepreneur. Our vision is to make an impact. This is bigger than us! The process of bringing an idea to life is amazingly rewarding. We have to strengthen our leadership of ourselves. If we wrongfully make ourselves sacrificial lambs, who is going to finish what God has entrusted us to do???

JESUS IS OUR EXAMPLE

Jesus was on a mission greater than any of us will ever be on, and yet he would steal moments away from everything to seek God. Time away from the crowds that constantly followed Him. Spaces of sanity from all the work of being Jesus Christ the Lamb that takes away the sins of man (John 1: 29). Kneel before God, as a child would in the presence of a loving Father.

“But the news about Jesus spread all the more, and great crowds came to hear Him

and to be healed of their sicknesses.

Yet He frequently withdrew to the wilderness to pray.

GOD WILL PROVIDE THE STRENGTH to keep going. Our connection with God is where our strength will come from. Doing ALL things is a trait that can only come from the strength that God provides.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

EMBRACE THE PROCESS. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and you’re certainly not going to build an empire overnight. Snatch back your joy, be patient with yourself, let God lead the way.

The problem with running ahead of God is that we don’t know the way. Can you picture someone running in the night, it’s dark, they’re sweating profusely, breathing heavily, but they have no idea where they are going. At some point that person has to STOP. It’s madness. There’s no judgment here. I have done this many many times. I get so excited about something that I let the zeal of the flesh take over, only to realize when I’m lost that God who began this thing knows the way to go.

“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.”

TRUST GOD.

“being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

RETURN TO THE PLACE OF VISION. Go back to the originator of this business. Go back to the One who sent you. In prayer seek the right next step. The Holy Spirit knows everything. Attune yourself to the leading of the spirit inside of you.

“But the Comforter, who is the Holy Ghost whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance,

whatsoever I have said unto you.”

RESTRUCTURE EVERYTHING FOR SUCCESS. The heart of God is that we prosper in all things, and be in good health (that includes good mental health) even as our souls prosper (3 John 1: 2). Be intentional with your days. Put a plan in place that will optimise your wellbeing. Block out time to pray and study the work, to exercise, to work on your strategy, to network, and to get your work done during the time of day when you have the most energy. Work with your situation rather than against it.

“Failing to plan is planning to fail.” ~ Benjamin Franklin

IDENTIFY THE BULLSEYE. What is the one thing that’s going to make everything else possible? Draw the sequence of milestones starting from the end result back to today. Then put all of your energy into hitting that first milestone on the journey. Everything else can wait. No more dabbling, it’s time to dominate.

FOCUS.

There are only so many hours in a day. We only have so much energy that we can use up before we begin to get kinda grumpy. It’s critical to focus, because the small wins come faster. Being scattered, and doing everything all the time is draining and slows down everything. Jumping from task to task can also make us a little crazy. I know

Small wins are what will give you wind beneath your wings.

Let’s hit that first milestone! 🔥
